Kent CCC posts £800,000 annual loss
Kent County Cricket Club (KCCC) has blamed continuing delays to the redevelopment of its St Lawrence ground in Canterbury after reporting a loss of £802,452 last year.
During the year ending 31 October 2009, the club's losses widened by 16 per cent, when compared with the previous year, as difficult trading conditions also affected its performance.
KCCC hopes the redevelopment of the St Lawrence ground will enable it to overhaul its business model and increase the amount of revenue it needs to "remain a competitive cricket force".
Simon Philip, the club's honorary treasurer, said: "Until the scheme has been completed and the facilities are up and running, the aim will be to try and steer a path between investing in cricket and not damaging the long term health of the club.
"To this end, a five-year financial plan, which accepts that it may be some time before healthy economic conditions return, is now being constructed to make sure that we get the balance right."
